Types of Western digital Hard disk Based on color variants
Do you want to know about types of western digital Hard-disk drive based on color variants?
Before we talk about color variants, get little bit intro about what is hard disk drive?
What is Hard-disk?
HDD is a data storage device in to the computers.
A hard disk drive store data on series of spinning magnetic disks called platter.
HDD has a several arm with several head that read and write data on the disk.
The arm moves the head across the surface of the disk to access different type of data. HDD store data like personal files, Multimedia files or Business files and many more as you want.
Hard Disk Drive is a big in size compare to the SSD.
HDD available in two form factors
2.5 inch used in laptops and
3.5 inch used in desktop computers.
Types of color based Hard disks are:
Gold
Red
Purple
Green
Black
Blue
Here this details and advantages and disadvantages based on researchgate.net.
Gold
Western Digital (WD) Gold Hard disk.
Use – Enterprise-class Hard Drive Gold
WD Gold hard disk drives are particularly designed for data centers to solve the business problems.
This is the best hard drive; it’s the best WD device. WD Gold takes between 550 Terabyte per year and 2 million hours of downtime.
Presently, WD Gold hard disks are ready for use in capacities ranging from 4 Terabyte to 10 Terabyte, more power can be introduced in a very short period of time.
Red
Western Digital (WD) Red Hard disk.
Use – Network Attached Storage (NAS) Storage Hard Drive.
The Red hard drive is particularly developed for NAS atmosphere which required working for 7 days 24 hours without any interruption.
The performance of the red hard drive is close to that of the green hard drive, the power consumption is low, a low noise may be suitable
It’s faster than WD black, quieter and maybe more reliable, but more expensive.
Purple
Western Digital (WD) Purple Hard disk.
Use – Surveillance Hard Drive
Purple hard disk drive is suitable for the video surveillance system, can reassure up to 32 channels high definition security cameras. With IntelliPower RPM, this allows you to separate the speed of rotation from 5,400 to 7,200 rpm, which reduces power utilization and possibly optimizes the life of the hard drive
Green
Western Digital (WD) Green Hard disk.
Use – Second Storage Hard Drive
Advantages:
Quiet, low cost
Disadvantages
Poor performance
Maximum duration Average life chances
Black
Western Digital (WD) Black Hard disk.
Use – Best Performance Hard Drive Huge Achievement, giant cache, high-speed. Primarily acceptable for organization functions that demanding high-tech computing such as video/photo editing/translation and great performance game console, or hosts.
Blue
Western Digital (WD) Blue Hard disk.
Use – General Purpose Hard Drive
A Blue drives has the highest volume of 1 Terabyte.
The disadvantages include the operating noise is slightly higher than the green hard drive. the performance is lower than that of the black hard drive.
Conclusion
Green and Blue hard drives are best for desktop computers. It is my own opinion and based on some research Blue hard drive is the best hard drive for desktop computers.
